THE SECRET TO A GREAT CONSULTATION
Do you know the feeling of walking into a place and they already know your order? It feels like magic, but it really comes down to great preparation.
This how I like to approach hair extensions - with GREAT PREP! The more I know about your hair before you even step into the salon, the better I can create a plan that’s perfect for you.
So, here’s the deal: when you send me pictures of your hair and your inspiration, it’s not just for fun (though I do love seeing your dream hair). It actually helps both of us.
SENDING GREAT PHOTOS: HOW IT HELPS
Taking great photos of your hair helps give us an idea of what your natural hair currently looks like, ahead of your first meeting with Kristin. We start creating the plan for your hair directly from the information provided to us when you book your consultation appointment! This helps us to put together the start of a plan before you even walk in the door.
All I need from you is:
1. Photos of your hair currently
2. Photos of your hair inspiration, what you want to see in your hair
3. Your hair history / story
Get the most out of your consult APPOINTMENT
the goal is to for me to get a preview of your hair, and what you are looking for!
Photos are worth a thousand words - seriously!
This is what we determine with photos:
your overall length and density and lets us see where your hair naturally lives on your frame
gives a preview of any specific concerns you might have with your hair
In the instance where your hair may not be suitable for extensions, or you are ultimately seeking a method we don’t work with, we are able to use these photos to gauge if there are any factors that would create pause or need for an additional plan before scheduling future services with Kristin.
Not to mention - have you ever been stalked? It’s important that I’m able to match a name with a face or silhouette when inviting a stranger into my place of work!
TIPS + WHAT TO SKIP WHEN TAKING PHOTOS
Skip the filtered and blurry pictures
Skip shots that are too zoomed in
Use natural lighting as much as possible
Stand facing the window, with the camera in front of you, when you take your photo
TAKING YOUR BEST PHOTOS
Center your head in the frame to show your length and density
No mugshots! Always keep your shoulders facing towards the camera
Use a mirror to take a pic of the back of your head! (bathroom, vanity, or elsewhere!)
Wearing a contrasting color helps to show difference between your hair and clothes
Your photos are never shared and are for Kristin’s personal reference only.
It doesn’t have to be perfect. all reference points are helpful!
SAMPLES OF WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR
BACK - taking a photo with a mirror is super easy! You can also have a friend help out to take a photo for you.
SIDES - look at the camera, then look over your shoulder (while shoulders are still facing the camera)

WHAT TO INCLUDE
When you share photos of your hair, include:
any problematic areas with description (if possible - I know it’s hard to take photos of your own head sometimes!)
include what you do like about your hair - IE “I love the color, but not how thin the ends look”
what has changed, if anything, about your hair? what are your concerns?
“this part of my hair feels off to me”
what to include if you are currently wearing extensions
share as much detail with me as possible!
are you experiencing anything abnormal? what are you liking and not liking about your hair currently? what are you wanting to change?
if you’re experiencing any issues, send photos of any trouble spots you have (if possible!)
