HOW TO STYLE BIG WAVES WITH SHARK FLEXSTYLE

We are loving the Shark Flexstyle and have had a blast playing with this tool with our Great Lengths. In this tutorial, we used the 1.25” barrel curlers. Our end result was a gorgeous, blowout-adjacent result that was super-simple to execute.

(We have a step by step tutorial with the one-inch barrels when we first tried this tool - check it out here)

What we’re loving about the shark:

  • the flexstyle has 2 different sizes of curling attachments!

    • 1 inch barrel: you get a more define, loose curl from this attachment! We love how the second day touch-up goes when you’re touching up curls, too

    • 1.25 inch barrel: the results are a loose, bouncy blowout! Don’t expect this one to hold as much of a curl as the smaller barrel - this is a easy and gorgeous way to get a blowout end result

I would love to see a curl attachment in an even smaller barrel, too - even a .75” size would be great! To me, I could see a smaller size barrel give some gorgeous, longer-lasting waves.

What would make this tool perfect for Great Lengths:

  • boar-bristle brush attachments only! I feel like the current brush selections are designed to provide just a little too much tension for use with hair extensions.

    • This is going to come down to your natural hair type and texture, along with the texture of your hair extensions.

    • To stay on the safe side, I would only use a brush attachment on hair that is 80% dry, and only on the mid-lengths and ends of the hair. The best way to use this tool in general is going to be on hair that is mostly dry. We love this tool and attachments for finishing a blowout. Instead, we’ll want to use the attachments on hair that is at least 75% dry.

OVERALL;

  • the curl attachments are amazing

  • the dryer itself is ALSO amazing

Next, we’re going to do a full breakdown of our use of the shark and all of the thoughts about using this tool! Stay tuned for the video coming up.
