FAQ: Can Hair Extensions be worn after chemo or radiation treatments?
The short answer is YES!

Even though extensions can be a great way to help your hair grow out after radiation, there are factors we consider and a necessary level of precaution required ahead of any lengthening or volumizing treatment.

✨HOW DO I KNOW IF I CAN WEAR EXTENSIONS FOLLOWING CHEMO?

Your hair cannot be in an active state of hair loss! We can't apply any method of hair extensions on hair that is in active stages of hair loss. Since your natural hair can change so drastically after radiation, we recommend a waiting period of 6+ months before wearing extensions to determine any changes to your hair.

✨ WHEN SHOULD I WAIT TO WEAR HAIR EXTENSIONS?

We recommend that you wait to wear hair extensions if you are:

- Experiencing continued changes to your hair, such as your texture, density, or if you are actively shedding excess hair
- Are experiencing any scalp sensitivity
- Chemo can often cause hair to regrow with a different texture. For instance, you may have had straight hair for most your life, and post-chemo your hair may become curly! We always recommend that you wait a minimum of six months after treatment to commit to hair extension wear.

✨OUR RECOMMENDED STARTING POINT

Your options will ultimately be determined by your starting point. Extensions will blend best for any lengthening treatment on hair that is at least 5" long all over.

The final look is determined by your hair currently, and what you are wanting to see.

Our preferred method of Extensions post chemo is hands-down, Great Lengths extensions. This method accommodates varying degrees of density throughout your hair, and can be applied seamlessly at nearly any point on the head. The bonds are the most gentle and versatile for any guest that has had radiation treatment, allowing for the healthiest grow out while you are wearing extensions.
